What is the basis of scholarship? (at US Colleges for UG Programs)

That depends on the school that you're applying for. Most of the Ivy League+ schools provide need-based scholarships, which are calculated based on your family's income and assets. However, many other schools like USC, Claremont Mckenna Colleges etc offer merit-based scholarships which are awarded on the basis of an applicant's qualifications (grades, test scores etc). Make sure to check what the scholarship options are for the schools that you're interested in when you're shortlisting!
