How many credits are required to graduate with a bachelor's degree?

It depends on the major that you are pursuing and the college that you attend. Liberal arts colleges like Union College require all engineering students to take 12 elective courses and 28 core courses (major-related courses) in their four years of undergraduate studies. Public and private universities have less emphasis upon elective courses, thus a majority of the coursework is pertaining to the major. Most of the private and public universities have two-semester per academic year system where students take 5-7 courses. Nevertheless, one has to be an efficient writer in order to convey their viewpoints. It is very helpful to indulge in different fields as it helps students identify their field of research focus. Interdisciplinary research is one of the perks of studying in a liberal arts school.
